by Mary Rae Hunter – a not so fast runner!
All great runners have personal stories about and reasons for their sport. Kevin Nelson’s simple rationale is that “Every day is a good day when you run.”
Every Saturday at 8 a.m., a weekly 5 KM timed run begins at the Southern Boundaries Park. Southern Boundaries Park is located at Third Fork Road in Durham. I learned about this race from friends—one of the new families that just moved into the area.
This fun race takes all runners: those competing against themselves, those in training, those who enjoy the company of fellow runners, families who run together. You name it. There is no fee to run in this timed race—you get to keep track of your weekly running time improvement. It is advisable, however, that you register before running.
So whether you prefer to zip through the course or walk at a leisurely pace, this race welcomes all participants. This is a great way for families to get out and exercise together on Saturday morning, or to meet other runners that share a common interest.

I look forward to running alongside many of our neighbors at the race.
