Cabin Commune Courtney James

I want to let you know about a gorgeous mountain house located just 3 short hours from this area. You may wonder why an agent in Durham, and one that tends to work mostly in and around downtown Durham, is writing about a house on Beech Mountain in the upper west corner of our state. Well, first, the house is gorgeous so if nothing else you’ll enjoy seeing the photos. You can browse the website here:, but please don’t let the price tag get you down. I’d like to propose that you consider this house from a different angle. Have you ever been together with several of your favorite families, and you all get to talking about how it would be fun to take a group vacation? Well…what if you and a few of those families bought this 6-bedroom house together so you could vacation together (or alone as families) year-round? Durham is an amazing place to live with so much to do and see and eat, but sometimes it’s nice (and necessary) to get away from the daily grind.

If you haven’t spent time in the North Carolina mountains, you are missing out on something special. The fact that this house sits adjacent to the Beech Mountain ski slope makes it especially attractive in that it’s very much a 4-season home (did I mention that it has a hot tub and a sauna?). It seems like every time I turn around, I see another article about people adopting the cabin dream…here’s the latest from the New York Times

So, why not invite some friends over for dinner to discuss. You never know…
