After some chilly, snowy, and rainy days we have finally been experiencing some beautiful Spring weather here in the Bull City.
April in Durham brings residents and visitors some wonderful opportunities to participate in welcoming this season of “new beginnings”. Here are a few of the month’s highlights:
Sara P. Duke Gardens – Visit the gardens and see the blossoming of the trees and flowers on the terraces. Follow the trails and sign up for the classes or tours for the entire family. See the full calendar of events here – http://gardens.duke.edu
Durham Bulls Baseball – After winning the National Triple A Championship last year, the Bulls start their home season on April 5th. This season will see a number of unique celebrations: The 30th Anniversary of the movie Bull Durham; A Stranger Things night to draw attention to the Netflix hit series directed by our own Durham natives and Jordan High School grads, The Duffer Brothers; new food at the concession stands, and much more. There are also new ticket packages where you can attend games for as low as $8.50 a ticket. For more – http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t234
The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival – April 5 – 8th, Downtown Durham will host almost 100 national and international non-fiction films. This morning-to-midnight, four day experience, will also have opportunities for dialog between film directors, producers, professionals, and the public. More information can be found here – https://www.fullframefest.org
North Carolina Beer Month – For 6 years running we celebrate April as NC Beer Month (National Beer Day is April 7th). Durham, and the Triangle, certainly makes it’s contribution to the state’s overflowing beer industry. Participate in a tour of area breweries or get out on your own and visit any number of our local breweries. Details can be found here – http://www.ncbeermonth.com
